Hi, so is there any food/drink out there that's OTC and you don't need to check! Water , Soda, lemonade etc maybe? Maybe there are snacks that are available that can be carried on the person at all times so the Non C person eating doesn't feel embarrassment?
Reading your note actually brings to the forefront the problems faced by people who have this condition! Maybe you can share these articles in newspapers/ or start a mini YouTube shorts or something.
Cause in the course of it, maybe we start getting some solutions? I don't know just voicing it out as i shiver when i imagine what you must be going through.
I do carry snacks with me everywhere I go. In fact I carry a full-meal too if the visit is around meal time. I will write about carrying food in a future post.
Non-celiac people should feel embarrassed at all… I’m sorry if the post leans towards giving that impression. All I am asking is to not force me to eat something I’m not comfortable with.
Usually people will claim that they made it “gluten-free”, so I should eat without worries. When the truth is more nuanced than that. Did you know anything that has hing (asafoetida) contains gluten?
So if someone is using a bunch of masala boxes, it’s a high risk. And it’s quite common as well.
On a different note: I do drink at friends places without too much hesitation. Tea, coffee, lemonade are quite safe… even wine, vodka and distilled liquor is safe.
